Project ———-

One room, three jobs

A chaotic home office, unused gym and occasional guest room redesigned into one calm, flexible space that made both working and exercising feel easier.

The Challenge

The room needed to work as a home office, gym and occasional guest room, but the office felt chaotic and the gym was rarely used because the space was not inviting.

The Approach

I prioritized the two everyday functions: work and exercise. The office stayed close to the only window for natural light, while the gym was given more open space and clearer access.

The permanent guest bed was replaced with a removable frame, and IKEA storage was used to hide the mattress, bedding and frame when not in use. Mirrors helped the basement room feel brighter and larger.

The Result

A calmer office, a gym that feels easier to use, and a guest room that can still be set up when needed without giving up valuable space all year.

One room, three uses, without all three competing at once.
